Cupcakes!!

I've got cupcakes on the brain today. Yesterday, I went back to my old apartment to return my keys and I stopped in at one of my favorite places.

Kickass Cupcakes is amazing. The name of the store does not lie. I got the the Strawberry Shortcake cupcake which has a real, delicious-tasting strawberry jam-filled center. I wish I had a picture of it, but I ate it waaay too quickly for that. I'm going to miss this place

Last night, I watched Cupcake Wars on the Food Network. The show is way more intense then I thought it would be and the judges scrutinize the contestants pretty harshly! I'm amazed by the recipes these people think up - in a short amount of time and with limited resources no less!

I'm kind of glad there isn't a cupcake place near my work... otherwise I'd definitely be there today buying a dozen!

What's your favorite place to get cupcakes?

Happy Wear Your Lilly Day!

Happy National Wear Your Lilly Day! And Happy First Day of Summer! Today is also the longest day of the year. Like Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, I always wait for the longest day of the year and then miss it. But not today! Today I'm going to celebrate with fun summer-y drinks apres work.

I'm wearing my Andover dress in Purrfect Paradise and I carried my Later Gator travel mug to work this morning.

Also, Janie Schoenborn, the fabulous Lilly Pulitzer Fashion Director, is the Guest Editor on Shopafrolic today. Click here to check out her picks for the day! If you don't already receive daily Shopafrolic emails, I suggest signing up immediately!

And finally, check out this picture of Perez Hilton all decked out in Pandamonium:

Are you a fan of his?? I'm usually not, but if he's a Lilly lover, I might reconsider!

What are YOU wearing today?? Have a great day and have fun wearing your Lilly! xoxo

My New Home and a Lilly Giveaway!

Happy Friday!! Did this week seem EXTRA long for anyone else? I'm sooooo happy for the weekend. I have nothing in particular planned (except getting cable and internet installed in my apartment tomorrow morning) and I am thrilled about that.
Did I mention that I have a *new* apartment?! I'm still getting used to it (i.e. trying to figure out where to put the ridiculous amount of stuff I've somehow accumulated in the past couple years), but I LOVE the neighborhood. Beacon Hill is right in the heart of Boston. The State House is located there. Senator John Kerry and his wife, the Heinz ketchup heiress, Teresa Heinz Kerry live there. It's a quick walk to nearly everything downtown, including the Public Garden and the Common. I even walk to work every morning! I am in love with the cobblestone streets and gaslight lamps.

Not my street, but similar.

Check out this wikipedia page if you are interested in the history of Beacon Hill - it's pretty interesting!

I'm also thrilled to be living near not one but two fabulous stores that sell Lilly. The Flat of the Hill has so many cute items - stationary, home goods, jewelry, handbags. North River Outfitters is another great store that sells a ton of cute preppy items and has a fantastic assortment of Lilly. Both are located on Charles Street. If you are ever in Boston, I highly recommend taking a stroll down Charles and checking out all the cute shops and restaurants!

On Tuesday night, my boyfriend and I had dinner at 75 Chestnut located on Chestnut Street, which runs across Charles. The food was wonderful! We started with the calamari and then I had the lobster ravioli (I guess I slightly OD'ed on seafood that night) and my bf had a hamburger. Both were delicious and we ended the meal with the restaurant's complimentary chocolate chip cookies. I can't wait to go back!

Has anyone ever visited this area? Any other restaurants, shops, etc, I should be checking out?

In other news, Paige at Life with a Pinch of Salt, a Wedge of Lime, and a Shot of Tequila (how great is that title?!), teamed up with the wonderful Lilly shop, Under the Palm Tree for a Lilly giveaway! Check out her blog to see the adorable critter clutch she is giving away! Also be sure to check out Under the Palm Tree. It's one of my fave Lilly stores and they always have fantastic discounts, promotions, etc!

Have a great weekend! xoxo

Miscellaneous Thoughts

I've been such a bad blogger lately! I've been so busy with moving, work, and other stuff that I haven't had too much free time to read any blogs, much less write any posts! This weekend should be pretty busy as well - I have a graduation party to go to tomorrow and then on Sunday it's my big move day. My boyfriend is also taking his test to get his pilot's license that morning, so keep your fingers crossed for him!

I've also been feeling kind of down about a whole bunch of bigger things. Like the oil spill in the Gulf. It's heartbreaking to watch the news. I feel so sorry for the people who live down there and are directly affected by it. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about. I've also been sad, and honestly a little nervous about all the violence in my city over the past few weeks. There have been several murders and the one that seems to be affecting the city the most is of a boy who was just 14 years old. I keep seeing his parents on the news and can only imagine the pain and sadness they are dealing with right now. And I just heard that a 10 year old girl was shot tonight. Things like this only get worse in the summer. I truly hope that the police and community leaders can get a grip on this before it gets worse. I am lucky to live in an area that is very far removed from the situation, but I admit that I felt a little nervous walking home tonight. You never know. These poor parents certainly did not send their children out expecting them not to come home. It's so senseless and so discouraging.

Sorry to end on a Debbie Downer note!! Just have a lot of stuff on my mind I guess. I am happy that this weekend looks like it will be good (well, not weather wise!) and I hope that you all have fantastic weekends!
